I didn't find this quite as fun/strong/hot as some of the author's other, relatively sweet omega stories, but still it worked for me as a diverting omegaverse read. The political intrigue and the "pre-arranged to marry my best friend the omega Princess" was a nicely different/somewhat novel touch.I personally especially appreciated the side-story of the Princess, and the overall including of expanded (and LGBT-friendly) exploration of male/female gender roles in an Omegaverse society (including female Alphas and Omegas, as well as the typical male Alpha can mate with a male Omega).

This was a very cute story that I really enjoyed.
Rowan is an Omega with a smidge of Royal blood, but not enough to be mated to an alpha. His cousin Princess Celia is having her engagement party to a Prince from a neighbouring country to seal a peace treaty. Celia asks Rowan to have one wild night and tell her all about it so she can live vicariously through him.
The man that Rowan has his wild night with, Gus, is actually Prince Gaspar the prince that Celia is to be married to. Rowan refuses to tell Celia who his wild night was with and he also refuses to see her until the day she is married to Prince Gaspar. His heart is broken as he has fallen in love with Gus and is actually pregnant with his child. Gus feels the same way and he tries to find a way to break his engagement without damaging the peace treaty. Gus does not know that Rowan is pregnant as Rowan has managed to keep it a secret.
The characters were well developed and you really felt for Rowan when his heart is crushed to know that he cannot have his true love without crushing his best friend.
Their is also a group of traitors working against the Prince to make sure that the peace treaty is not signed. There is quite a bit of suspense til the very end and I did not know who the bad guys were until they were revealed at the end of the book.

This wasn’t a “great” book. There were flaws. The writing was immature in places and there were parts where it was trite and the reality of the situation was somewhat strained. However, it was a good book, and an extremely entertaining read.
I suppose the realistic rating for this book would be 3.5* but I’m giving it 4* purely because of its entertainment value. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and read it in one sitting, although it caused me to stay up until the early hours.
I loved Rowan from the very first page to the last. His character is consistent, honourable, sweet and a little naïve at times. He tries his hardest do the right things by his friends and where did it leave him – abandoned and pregnant. Fortunately, he had Amelia to pick up the pieces.
Amelia was my second favourite character. She’s a tough cookie with a snarky humour and a liking for knives – just my kind of girl. You always know where you are with this girl. She shoots straight from the hip and takes no nonsense. I suspected her role early on but was still taken by surprise and had an “Aww” moment.
Gus, I wasn’t so keen on. He allowed his brother to talk him into having a fling the night of his engagement and although he tells Rowan from the start it can only be a one-time deal, he deliberately misleads Rowan about his identity and then won’t leave him alone. Poor Rowan struggles with his loyalty to his friend and wants to keep Gus at a distance, but Gus keeps yanking him back. I appreciate Gus is in emotional pain, but given his opinions at the beginning about his father’s indiscretions I think he’s being an idiot.
What can I say about Celia. She sounds as if she was a fun friend as a child, but the way she behaves in the book, I can imagine she would be a difficult person to spend any amount of time with. She professes to being Rowan’s best friend, but she doesn’t act like it. A best friend would have seen he was in pain and instead of complaining about how he doesn’t keep in contact, would have spent time with him and actually talked to him about what was bothering him. Okay, it would have made things a lot more difficult for Rowan but it would give me a better impression of her. At the moment I don’t think she deserves Rowan’s devotion.
That being said, the characters gel well and complement each other. The story itself is a nicely woven tapestry of strange, but nicely drawn world that is a mix of fantasy and contemporary. There is darkness, but it’s a subtle thread rather than an “in your face” band of black cord. Even Rowan’s pain is bittersweet.
All in all I loved this story despite it’s flaws. If you like quirky fantasy with princesses and castles, as well as cars, computers and guns, this is definitely one for your TBR list.
ABO stories are one of my favorites, and this author always manages to hit the spot. I enjoyed the angst and felt that problems that the characters faced made sense overall.
This was a GREAT read. I started with the sample, to try a new-to-me author, and when the sample ended, I was like, ohhhhh i don't THINK so, and bought the book. I read it through in one sitting.
Loved the characters and I was immediately fully invested in Rowan and his happiness. He's a great character in an unfortunate position of being in love with someone unavailable.
TWO great plot twists. I was O.o because I was caught off guard, and that's really unusual for me!
So, Ms. Peters, you've got me now! Heading back to read more of your work!!
